Women Who Sing & Play Traditional with Carol Rifkin, Donna Ray Norton, Anna Lynch, High Road, Mallory Carter, Lake Carver, & Anna Morris Traditional Stage Sun 30 Apr 2023 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM

Starting at 6pm, grab a drink and join the Haywood Ramblers on stage for a community jam or visit with Richard Tichich and his Appalachian Wooden Dancing Puppets, create your own spoon instrument, and get your picture taken and a mini-portrait made by a local artist. The dancing will begin at 6:30pm with music by Gap Civil and flat foot lessons with Tyler Hughes and the Green Grass Cloggers. We’ll take breaks with performances by the Green Grass Cloggers and other special guests. Tyler Hughes and team will call all sorts of dances including Square Dance/Group Dances, Reels, Free-Style, 2-Step, and Waltz. Donna Ray Norton and Melanie Rice Penland will guest star and sing ballads during the performance. Food will be available by La Semilla food truck and beer and wine available for purchase.

Join us next Wednesday, March 15th at 6:00pm to hear Sheila and her nest of singing birds for our 1st monthly round robin ballad swap. She will be joined by her daughter, Melanie Rice Penland, cousin, Donna Ray Norton, Judy Rhodes, Leila Weinstein, and Sarah Songbird Burkley… just to name a few. It’s going to be a great night. Definitely put this one on your calendar! We will be doing the ballad swap every second Wednesday of the month moving forward… but this first one is not to be missed!!! The ballad tradition in Madison County is an important part of our cultural heritage and we are excited to be a venue for sharing it with the world.
